My career began training as a registered nurse in Dundee and moved to London shortly after qualifying. From very early on I knew I wanted to work on Intensive Care and have been Matron on Critical Care at UCLH since 2011. My passion is patient and staff experience in equal measures. I have a keen interest in Quality Improvement and have been instrumental in bringing it to life on critical care by really embracing a learning culture and enabling psychological safety. I’m a firm believer in visible leadership – which was especially true during the pandemic; only when can you truly experience what staff are facing and do your best to improve processes etc for patient and staff safety.
